Join us for the latest discussion from our Greater China Series, sponsored by Asiaciti Trust.

During the discussion, we will highlight the wealth structuring advantages of 3 key jurisdictions for business owners and families in China and across the region: New Zealand; Cook Islands; Hong Kong. We will hear from Asiaciti's team on the ground in each of the locations in presenting the options available, and associated benefits, and a case study.

We will also illustrate the legal protections available to clients in each jurisdiction, with Marcus Dearle discussing issues related to international trusts and family law

Marcus Dearle - Partner, Miles Preston & Co., London. Marcus advises clients on all aspects of family law. He is Chair of the International Bar Association, Family Law Committee and a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers.

He uniquely advises on Hong Kong, as well as English law, from London. He acted for the successful American husband (JEK) residing in New Jersey USA (instructing Deepak Nagpal QC) in the Hong Kong High Court classic forum-shopping case of LCYP v JEK [2019] HKCFI 1588.

The Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2021 reported that Marcus' "family asset protection team has quickly become recognised in the market for its prowess at handling complex, high-profile matrimonial cases for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients. Recognised as 'one of the pre-eminent practitioners of family law in Hong Kong', Marcus Dearle leads the team by example and has a 'unique expertise in the really big cases, which stems from his having worked in London for many years doing such cases', including in relation to a recent precedent-setting pre-nuptial matter. 'When it comes to international trusts and family law cases, Marcus Dearle is in a class of his own. He regularly represents not only spouses in divorce and trust cases, but also offshore trustees'."
