Global India Series: Wealth Planning for Global Indian Families

We are delighted to be joined by an expert panel to discuss wealth planning issues for global Indian families. The discussion will focus on Indian origin HNW families with business interests, assets and family members around the world. It will explore options for succession planning for wealth transfer between the generations including corporate and trust structures, insurance and other solutions.

The series is kindly sponsored by Barclays Private Bank. This discussion with be moderated by Yuvendra Hora - Head of Global Indian, Middle East, Barclays Private Bank, Dubai. Yuvendra is the Head of Barclays Private Bank's Global Indian business for the Middle East. Yuvendra joined Barclays in January 2016 and has over 23 years of experience, having previously been the Head of Barclays Private Bank in Zurich and head of Barclays' Swiss NRI business.

Prior to this he held senior positions in top class financial institutions where he earned a multitude of awards and gained experience in dealing with ultra-high net worth clients. Along with his team, Yuvendra manages over USD1.5 billion of client assets and his expertise is particularly inclined towards Global Indian clients, focused on ultra-high net worth individuals and entrepreneurs. Yuvendra holds an MBA Degree (cum laude) from Business School Lausanne. He currently resides in Dubai with his family.

Ismael Hajjar - Associate Partner, Ernst & Young Middle East, Dubai. Ismael is the EY Private Leader for the MENA region and an advisor to ambitious owners, entrepreneurs and CEOs of leading private, fast growth and family enterprises. He also founded and currently leads EY MENA family enterprise and family office award-winning consulting practice which specializes in assisting successful families, entrepreneurs and family offices across MENA managing risks, preserving and growing wealth. EY Private encompasses EY flagship entrepreneurship program, Entrepreneur of the Year, which runs in over 50 countries worldwide; the Winning Women program, targeting female Founders; and a focus on Private Clients, Family Enterprise, Start Ups and IPO-bound companies.

During his career, Ismael has been successful in designing and implementing inter-generational succession, inheritance, governance, ownership and tax structuring strategies. He has contributed to building and currently serves Family Offices. He is a regular speaker in the GCC and beyond on topics such as family business and private wealth institutionalization, global tax transparency, succession planning and the role of the family office. The team that he leads won the "WealthBriefing MENA Tax and Accountancy firm of the year" award in 2017 and 2019.

Katie Cooper - Senior Wealth Advisor, Barclays Private Bank, London. Katie joined Barclays in 2013, having moved from her position as a UK solicitor and STEP Trusts and Estate Practitioner in the Private Client team at Fladgate LLP. Katie also qualified as a solicitor at Taylor Wessing LLP. She is now a Senior Wealth Advisor in the International Wealth Advisory Team within the Private Bank at Barclays and has over 10 years' experience in the Private Client industry.

Her role is to assist high net worth international clients across all platforms and markets with their holistic succession planning, structuring, residency and immigration needs working alongside their tax / legal advisors.

Sunita Singh-Dalal - Of counsel, Stephenson Harwood Middle East, Dubai. Sunita leads the Middle East private wealth practice, where the team focuses on assisting clients in the Middle East, Africa and South West Asia on cross border private client, corporate, commercial and dispute resolution issues. Sunita has established intrinsic relationships with private banks, financial advisers, corporate service providers and the local regulatory authorities. Sunita actively works with the local regulators to spread awareness in India and the GCC of the latest developments and updates within the private wealth sector, particularly in relation to the new Foundations regimes implemented bv the ADGM, RAK ICC and DIFC.

As an active member of the private wealth community, Sunita is a full member of STEP (Africa and Arabia) and speaks at various international forums and conferences in the Middle East and South West Asia. Sunita assists clients and advisers with topical matters in the UAE and GCC such as Succession Planning, Wealth Management as well as the implementation of Family Codes of Governance and Family Constitutions. Sunita recently participated in Jersey Finance's "Women in Wealth Management" initiative in the GCC and was the key speaker at their flagship 2019 event on "Globalisation of Wealth". Sunita is widely regarded as a leading authority within the private wealth community, which is reflected through her being recognised by Chambers & Partners High Net Worth Guide 2020 as a ranked individual within the UAE.

Bhavnita Gosrani - Director - Zedra Trust Company(Suisse) SA, Geneva. Bhavnita has a wide range of experience working with clients from a variety of jurisdictions including the Middle East, UK and India. She qualified as a Chartered UK Tax Advisor prior to joining the trust industry over 12 years ago. She is fully STEP qualified and has completed the STEP Postgraduate Diploma in Private Wealth Advisory.

She has extensive experience working with clients with a variety of asset classes held in structures, including real estate, private companies and investment portfolios. Bhavnita is accustomed to working with legal advisors, investment consultants and tax consultants to ensure the most appropriate structure is implemented and administered for clients.
