Join us for the second episode in the Greater China Series, kindly sponsored by Barclays Private Bank. The discussion will discuss the latest trends from wealth structuring for families in the region transferring wealth now or in the future. It will cover the various vehicles available and the issues that advisors may encounter when considering with such options. It will discuss the key jurisdiction that families are using for private wealth structuring as well as investment trends for the underlying assets.

The session will be moderated by:

Alexandra Hewazy - Senior Wealth Advisor and Head of UK Resident Non-Domiciled Proposition, Barclays Private Bank, London. Alexandra a private client solicitor with 11 years PQE and specialises in advising UHNW individuals and trustees on personal tax, trust and estate planning with a particular focus on international clients. Alexandra has significant experience working with trustees on succession planning, asset protection and tax efficient structuring. When in private practice Alexandra also focused on advising US clients with a UK connection.

Alexandra joined Barclays in 2012, having previously worked in the private client practices of Taylor Wessing and Forsters LLP. Prior to joining Wealth Advisory in 2018, Alexandra worked within Barclays Group Tax where she dealt with all aspects of risk and control for the RND proposition and provided technical guidance on the tax efficient structuring of funds and investment products.

Richard Grasby - Founder of RDG Fiduciary Services Limited and Registered Foreign Lawyer at Facey & Associates LLP and based in Hong Kong since 2009. Richard is admitted as a solicitor in England & Wales, the British Virgin Islands ("BVI") and the Cayman Islands. Richard has lived and worked in Jersey, the UK, the Cayman Islands and Hong Kong for some of the leading law firms including Maples, Ogier, SJ Berwin and Charles Russell Speechlys LLP. He is a member of the International Academy of Estate and Trust Law, the International Bar Association, International Fiscal Association, Hong Kong Trustees Association, Family Firm Institute and STEP. For STEP he is a member of the Global Steering Committees for International Client and Business Families and a member of the Hong Kong branch committee.

Simon Michaels - Partner, Mishcon, Singapore and CEO of MDR Mayfair, Singapore. Simon's focus is on advising prominent global high net-worth families, family offices and the institutions that service them, in particular private banks and trust companies. In addition to UK tax, he advises on all issues of family governance, succession and estate planning, often with a particular focus on effective and complex cross-border structuring with integrated tax planning. In addition to this, Simon has been involved in a number of high value, cross-border trust and estate disputes, acting both for trustees and beneficiaries. He is a dual qualified English barrister and solicitor advocate.

Kevin Lee - Partner, Head of Wealth and Corporate, Greater China, Stephenson Harwood, Hong Kong. Kevin has been consistently ranked in Band 1 by Chambers for Private Client lawyers in Hong Kong. He is one of the leading private wealth, tax and trust practitioners in Asia Pacific. Kevin also advises on family businesses, and has represented corporate clients on commercial transactions and establishing operations in Hong Kong.

Qualified in Hong Kong and Canada, Kevin advises clients in respect of both jurisdictions. Kevin acts as counsel for major corporations headquartered in Hong Kong, China, the USA, Canada, Japan and other jurisdictions. He advises on the registration, corporate tax, intellectual property, employment and immigration aspects of doing business in Hong Kong as well as on cross-border transitions.
